
Sean John Clothing Inc. was launched off the
success of rapper and producer, Sean "Diddy" Combs. Mr. Combs,
who had developed a deep interest in fashion throughout his
career, decided to fulfill his lifelong dream in 1998 by starting
his very own clothing line. The first collection Mr. Combs
debuted was his sportswear line, and the collection was met with
rave reviews. Critics praised Sean John for delivering
sophisticated designs that represented and stayed true to the
urban style.
In 2001, Mr. Combs took his brand to another level by being one
of the first runways shows to air their collection during Fashion
week on live TV. Additionally, Sean John received prestigious
praise from 2000 to 2005 when it was awarded excellence in design
by the Council of Fashion Designers of America in New York,
NY.
Inspired by Mr. Combs own personal style, Sean John has certainly
come a long way from its beginnings. Today, the brand has
expanded from sportswear into many sub divisions. The four
categories of the collection include Sean John, Bad Boy
Sportswear, Sean John Tailored, and Sean John accessories. Sean
John also launched its first fragrance called, Unforgivable, in
2006 and their first women's collection in 2007. From a dream to
a reality, Sean John has made the transition from an urban brand
to an international brand, bringing in over $100 million dollars
in sales a year.
