Mossimo
The well-recognized and famous “Mossimo” logo is far
more than just a name-brand clothing line. Mossimo was
started by Mossimo Giannulli in the late 1980’s. His vision
of creating beach and surf wear for a coastal lifestyle quickly
caught on off the beaches of California. After making brightly
colored shirts that sported the “M” logo, Mossimo
packed up his tees and headed to the coasts, effortlessly selling
his shorts and shirts. Before long, his clothes were a hot
commodity and a must-have for beach goers.
With the quick success of his beach and surf gear, Mossimo wanted
to expand his customer base and reach out to consumers that
didn’t live off the coastal regions. In 1991, he designed
casual sportswear and accessories that were tailored for both men
and women of all ages. Unique to his own brand, Mossimo reached out
to large specialty stores and retail chains to sell his clothing
and reach the largest number of consumers. It wasn’t long
before everyone across the nation could spot the trendy
“Mossimo” logo.
Currently, Mossimo clothing is sold worldwide and is one of the
largest apparel brands in the United States. Target is the largest
distributer and is responsible for a large portion of
Mossimo’s multi-million dollar company. In fact, the Mossimo
line has now expanded beyond casual apparel and sells hair and skin
products, fragrances, and bedding. While many of the clothes are
marketed to teens, these relaxed and sporty styles of clothes are
great for workout apparel or lounging around the home. Featuring
bright colors and patterns that reflect a beach lifestyle, these
clothes remain in-style despite the current trends. With elements
of street and urban influences, Mossimo is one brand that can make
it into anyone’s closet.
