La Blanca Swimwear
Rod Beattie, the designer of the fabulous La Blanca collection of
swimwear is a California native and graduated from Otis Parsons
College of Design. He first began his career as a designer
for several contemporary sportswear houses before switching over to
swimwear back in 1988. Beattie keeps his reputation
impeccable by continuing to "wow" the world with his trend savvy
designs that are sophisticated, stylish, but also ensure an
extremely comfortable fit.
When any of the pieces are created, they are done so by using the best fabric available and the knitting of the item is only done by machine to ensure little to no visibility of hem lines. Instead of making the same piece that has been done in the past he chooses to experiment with different leg lines, modern colors, and different strap combinations. He serves as a design critic, mentoring students on a semester long assignment that culminates in an annual fashion show. He credits this as what keeps him pushing through to new territory and his styles very innovative and new and when in need of more inspiration he heads down Mexico, a favorite getaway spot for Beattie to relax and gain new ideas.
