UGG Austrailia Shoes
Although UGG Australia sheepskin boots are often thought of as
winter gear, this Australian-based company started its roots off
the coasts of California. In 1978, Brian Smith, an avid surfer from
Australia, loaded up a bag full of sheepskin boots and traveled to
the Western coast, selling these innovative boots. They were a huge
hit with the surfers, as these boots kept the feet warm after
surfing. Although popular, UGG Australia had a quiet and humble
success that included 2 styles of boots, 4 slippers and a few other
casual shoes by 1995. It was then that the company was acquired by
Deckers Outdoor Corporation and started to be recognized as a
high-end luxury footwear brand.
The sales and popularity of UGG Australia boots grew steadily and
began to be sold at high-end retail stores, including Nordstrom. By
2003, UGG Australia had the honor of being name “Brand of the
Year” by Footwear News and it wasn’t long after that
everyone had to get their hands on a pair of Uggs. Not only were
UGG boots an emerging fashion trend for celebrities and upscale
shoppers, but they were a must-have for kids as well. To further
their popularity, sheepskin boots were seen just about everywhere;
in magazines, on the catwalks, and during fashion shows.
Trendy, comfortable and chic, it’s no surprise that Uggs grew
to be the success that they are today. But it’s their high
quality materials and construction that really sets them apart from
other synthetic boots on the market. Made from the highest grade
sheepskin, UGG Austrailia boots wick away at moisture and allow air
to circulate, which means they can be worn in any type of weather.
The styles include slip-ons and lace-ups, as well as those that
come up to the ankle or knee.
