Reebok Shoes
Joseph William Foster, originally from a small fishing village in
England, was making a living creating shoes and had the idea of a
spiked running shoe. After the his ideas evolved, he founded a
company with his two adult sons, and named it J.W. Foster and
Sons. By 1924, Foster and Sons had a established a very good
reputation for manufacturing superior shoes, and were given the
opportunity to create running shoes for athletes who represented
Great Britain during the 1924 Summer Olympics.
With the legacy of the top quality footwear construction, the two
Foster's grandchildren, Jeff and Joe founded Mercury Sports, and
later named it Reebok in 1960. As time went on and the brand
built more and more momentum, a United States camping equipment
distributor names Paul Fireman noticed a pair of these top notch
running shoes at an international trade show, and motivated him to
negotiate rights to sell them here in North America.
Although the brand was a bit more expensive than it's competitors
like Nike, Puma and Addidas, the shoes sold exceptionally
well. Today the brand sells sportswear, accessories, and of
course footwear for women and men. You can now purchase Reebok
apparel at a majority of shoe stores around the world.
