Vera Wang
Vera Wang is the true definition of a fashion icon. She is most
well known for her luxury wedding gowns that she began designing
out of New York City in 1990. This American fashion designer was a
natural athlete and tried out for the Olympics in figure skating.
When she did not make it, she began her lucrative career in fashion
design instead. What inspired Wang to delve into a fashion career
was that in 1989, she was looking for that perfect wedding gown
that she found to be non-existent. She then designed her own dress
and had it made, and her success led her to open her own bridal
shop in 1990. Since then, Wang has made wedding dresses for
celebrities such as Ivanka Trump and Jennifer Garner.
Although Wang had a client base of upscale women, her designs
became an instant success. Being featured on Sex and the City, as
well as making costumes for figure skaters, the name Vera Wang
became synonymous with weddings and fashion. She then went on to
make ready-to-wear clothing, as well as fragrances, jewelry, shoes,
and makeup. In 2007, Wang launched her Simply Vera line that is
exclusive to Kohl’s and affordable for the average
shopper.
Wang has been recognized with numerous awards, as her love for
clothes certainly shines through in all her designs. She often uses
history for her inspiration and draws from such countries as Russia
and Rome. Her designs are perfect for young women who enjoy a fresh
and modern approach on clothing. Since her clothing lines are
packed with cultural influences, as well as sophisticated accents,
women feel empowered and feminine in Vera Wang clothing. Indeed,
Wang only uses the finest fabrics and pays close attention to
detail to complete all of her collections.
