Roberto Cavalli
Roberto Cavalli, the grandson of famous Florentine impressionist,
Guiseppe Rossi, was born in Florence Italy. He later attended
Florence Art Academy, at 17, it was here where Cavalli experimented
with use of paint on textile fabrics, Cavalli was praised for his
vibrant floral motifs which brought him to the attention of several
influential contacts in the Italian fashion world.
He began his career at only 21 with the techniques he used during
school and by accident discovered the art of painting women's skin,
and this is before anyone had done this, the women who summered in
St. Tropes and Capri adored this. Italian Vogue took notice
of young Cavalli and he later ventured out into his career to
create many more items loved by all women, because of the signature
animal prints combined with vibrant colors, and precious metals
made women all over crave the clothing he created.
His first boutique was opened in St. Tropez in 1972, it was here
that he achieved much notice from the well known celebrities of
that era. He started designing jeans in 1994 and in 1999 he
opened a store on Madison Avenue in New York City that helped build
the momentum that helped him get where he is today. Never one to
limit himself his line now produces, woman's wear, men's wear,
sunglasses, shoes, and even beachwear.
