Alexander
McQueen was best known for his crazy and stand out designs, often
seen on celebrities such as Lady Gaga and Rihanna. He started out
working for five years as the head designer for Givenchy, and then
went on to create the Alexander McQueen and McQ labels. He has
earned the British Designer of the Year award four times between
1996 and 2003, being one of the youngest designers to receive the
award. McQueen had boutiques all over the world, including New
York, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, London, and Milan.

McQueen loved to take fashion risks, whether it be with his
dresses, shoes, or his signature skull scarves, that have often
been imitated by other designers. This love for taking risks
showed in one of his most controversial designs; the
“Bumster”, put on the market in 1996. They were
insanely low rise jeans that revealed the top of the
wearer’s butt crack. Alexander McQueen was all about the
shock value. He loved to surprise people with what he would come
up with next. His fashion shows were literally more about the
show than the fashion itself, and he was always turning
heads.
The fashion world received devastating news in early 2010 when
Alexander McQueen passed away in an untimely death. Though he is
no longer here, his crazy, unconventional designs will live on
forever in fashion history.
