Thomas Carlyle (Tom Ford), was born August of 1961 and is both an
American fashion designer and a film director. Ford
graduated Santa Fe Preparatory School in 1979, at 17 and moved to
New York to study art at NYU, he dropped out a year later.
He later attended Parson's "The New School" for design and
studied interior architecture and later graduated but during his
last year of school here he lived in Paris and interned at
Chloe's press office for a year and a half. Although his
position here only required him to send out clothing to photo
shoots, this triggered his intense love for fashion. He
later worked for Cathy Hardwick 1988, Perry Ellis for two years,
and soon grew tired of American fashion, he has been quoted
saying it's "too tacky" and with this he moved to Milan to work
for Gucci. However at the time it was an extremely risky
move because no one wanted to wear the Gucci brand, or even touch
it, he completely turned that around and changed fashion history
during his time as their creative director. He eventually
left Gucci and fell off the "fashion radar" until now.
He has recently introduced a line of eye-wear that is extremely
stylish and innovative designs that deserve to be raved
about. The eye-wear collection he has created possesses a
certain 70's sexiness and blended with hint of sophistication,
one of his signatures. He was once asked why he decided to
design eye-wear and sunglasses and he simply responded with "they
are a personal favorite as far as accessories go" and so we have
the most sought after eye-wear collection at the moment.
