The brand we know as Bottegea Veneta was established in 1966 by
Michele Taddei and Renzo Zengiaro and is headquartered in Vicenza,
Italy. The company was later taken over by Taddei's former
wife, Laura Moltedo, and Vittorio. The glamorous brand is
well known for it's signature weaving technique called
"intrecciato", and it's quality of craftsmanship. Many people
are intrigued by the well designed pieces it creates and their very
discreet no logo design and during the 70's the company advertised
it with the slogan of "when your own initials are
enough"!
During the early 80's the brand did exceptionally well, however the companies funds began to run low and they turned to making more trendy and mainstream items, they eventually sold the company to the Gucci Group in 2001. Creative director Tomas Maier joined the the team to revitalize the the brands image and removed visible logo's and focused on the intrecciato weaving, this re-established it's identity and gained back it's original reputation! Bottega Veneta has since introduced other items to it's collection such as fine jewelry, eye wear, furniture, and fragrance all while still offering handbags, shoes, luggage, small leather goods, and many different types of gifts.
