Balenciaga Handbags
Cristobal Balenciaga was born in January of 1895 in a small fishing
village of Guetaria in the Basque region of Spain and spent many
years by his mother's side (who was a seamstress). After he
received formal training in Madrid, he found early success and
opened branches of his boutique Eisa in Madrid, Barcelona, and the
trendy seaside resort in San Sebastian. The designs he
created were favored by the Spanish Royal family and various
members of the aristocracy. Balenciaga drastically changed
the silhouette of the woman in the mid-twentieth century. He
created garments with fluidity and elegance, unlike other designers
of this era. He was continuously praised for his perfectionism he
practiced when constructing the pieces that are loved by
many. His pieces were loved so much that clients often risked
the travel to Europe during World War II, just to purchase his
designs. Especially his now famous square coat, the sleeve
was cut in one piece with the yoke. Clients also adored anything
shown in his unique color combination of black and brown or black
lace over bright pink.
Creative director Nicholas Ghesquire who joined the company in
1990, helped acquire the following of the well sought after
Motorcycle Balenciaga bag. The motorcycle bag is made out of
distressed goat leather and offers a slightly shiny and unique
look. Although his designs are spoken about in many magazines
today, Cristobal did not like the publicity and press that his
designs brought and before his death at 77 he trained well known
designers such as Givenchy, Courreges, and Ungaro. Some still
regard him as their mentor.
