Rag & Bone
Rag & bone is a lifestyle brand that is well known for their
authentic denim, yet also expands its apparel to include shirts,
shoes and accessories for both men and women. Named after the rag
and bone man, an English man who collected unwanted items, this
company incorporates elements from the U.S. and Britain. Rag &
bone was founded in 2002 by two British men, Marcus Wainwright and
David Neville. The duo was in search of a pair of quality,
authentic jeans, which they found the clothing market was
lacking.
Wainwright and Neville spent time in Kentucky with a group of skilled craftsmen, where they learned how to make quality jeans, which rag & bone is most known for today. Paying close attention to the detail and stitching of the denim, rag & bone learned how to make denim jeans like they did 50 years ago. In the Spring of 2004, rag & bone launched their men’s collection, which was an instant success. The following year, they launched a women’s collection and in 2007, rag & bone made a bold move and offered a unisex line. These clothes had a modern appeal, completed by a classic tailored style, fitting for either gender.
Rag & bone continues to use only the highest quality fabrics that change according to the season. With a handmade look and feel, rag & bone apparel complements a modern lifestyle, yet has an authenticity that keeps it current through evolving trends. The vision that rag & bone had early on was to create a complete lifestyle collection for everyday wear, something they have certainly succeeded at.
